August Teamwide Celebration: SpeechDojo is a Charity!

SpeechDojo Charity Celebration, 2022

This was a monumental moment for us. After only four years since SpeechDojo was founded, we received charity status!

SpeechDojo was founded 7 years ago by Armaan Somani (Former President) and Ebun Akomolafe (Former VP Classroom) while they were in high school.

Since then, it's grown from a small student group to a charity organization with over 50 members across three teams: Classroom, Online, and Marketing.

Classroom

On SpeechDojo Classroom, experienced instructors deliver weekly public speaking lessons in grade 5-9 classrooms:

  • Free 15 week program, 30-45 minute lesson each week

  • Program targets students from disadvantaged backgrounds

  • Curriculum tailored for needs and interests of the class

SpeechDojo classroom has taught in 125 classrooms across Alberta.

Why do we do what we do?

Public speaking isn't about making speeches. It's about finding the courage to voice your opinions, learning to express yourself, and recognizing how communication brings us all together. Our volunteers believe that every voice should be heard, and they empower students to find theirs.

On SpeechDojo, we believe that every student across the globe deserves access to public speaking education to help them develop the skills they need for success.

Our Mission

On SpeechDojo, we are on a mission to equip students with the public speaking skills they need to succeed and become engaged community leaders, whether in their academic or professional life.

We strive to create a future where every student has the guidance and support they need to find confidence in their voice and share it with the world.

Our Values

As an organization, we operate on these three virtues.

1. Be helpful.
2. Do work that makes you proud.
3. Practice Kaizen.

Kaizen is a Japanese term meaning "continuous improvement." It is a business philosophy regarding the processes that continuously improve operations and involve all employees.
